Readmine is developed by a small company, GloPro Network Pty Ltd, located in Canberra, Australia.
We originally wrote the spec for Readmine back in 2003 and started work on it late 03/early 04. The original Readmine team are two people, Michael Guilfoyle and Michael Nordling. Michael Nordling writing the code and Michael Guilfoyle designing, testing and managing the project. Rohan Reydners joined us about a year and half ago working on user interface design, production and graphic design for the product.
Originally we developed it because we had a need to get on top of the hundreds and thousands of RSS items we would get each day from hundreds of feeds. We also wanted a way to be able to add things to our Blog and if we didn’t have the time to Blog, we’d still have an evolving identity with updates on what interests us by what we’ve read.
We spend our working life (and more) on the Internet. The Iinternet is a central focus for us and with so much available on the Internet and so little time, we wanted to be ever more efficient. We produced Readmine.
But even more so we wanted to develop something that would help the general group of people using the Internet to take advantage of the power of RSS, Blogging and the incredible amount of content available on the internet. We wanted to help people become more than just a consumer of news and blogs but an active part of this incredible powerful new media that the Internet is.
We are happy to say that it is fulfilling the need we had, that inspired us to develop Readmine. We save incredible amounts of time every day and are able to keep up with the news and events that matter to us personally. We also have a record of those interests to share with others, making our reading matter.
We now hope we can bring that power to you and we want to work with Readmine users like you, to sculpt it into a product that fits your daily routine for reading news and blog posts that are personally interesting to you and making your reading matter – helping you to be an active and influential part of the media.
